Free Movies to Watch Online
Here you can sit down and watch a movie or a documentary, for free! The list is something of a personal choice, and I will, over time, review each entry here. I will also put films here that I have seen or intend to watch in the not-too-distant future. They could be from any genre but you can look at the list below to see what's there. If you're an independent film-maker and you would like me to showcase your work, let me know. As this is a public website, the film needs to be relatively inoffensive and viewable by more-or-less anyone (even if not of interest to the same).
I score the movies out of 10 according to my personal taste, but won't put anything here that comes out at less than 6/10, which is what I consider ‘watchable’ or enjoyable enough, even if not particularly profound. For some I may write short reviews too, but most will be described with just a short note. Time is pressing...
As far as possible I plan to restrict the list to movies that are either copyright-free or at least are freely available online if you search around enough. If you own the copyright on anything here and would like me to remove it, please send me a message using the form at the bottom of the page. If you know of sources of good free movies, I would like to know too!

Classic Movies
- It's A Wonderful Life [2h 11m, 8/10]
One of the very best feel-good movies ever made. On Christmas Eve 1946, George Bailey (James Stewart) is deeply depressed, even suicidal. Prayers for George are heard by the angels. Clarence Odbody (Henry Travers), an Angel Second Class, is sent to Earth to save him, and thereby earn his wings. Joseph, the head angel, reviews George's life with Clarence.

Documentaries
- Maybe Logic: The Philosophy of Robert Anton Wilson [1h 21m, 8/10]
Slow to get going, but in the end a really enlightening and mind-stretching look at how little we really know about anything, and why dogmatism is just plain naive.
- Money As Debt [36m, 7/10]
An animated documentary describing how the financial system acts to effectively enslave the maximum number of people through the use of debt.
- Here Be Dragons [41m, 7/10]

- In Grave Danger of Falling Food [54m, 9/10]
Our way of life is unsustainable. What exactly can you and I do about it? Permaculture may be part of the answer.

Science Fiction (Sci-Fi) Movies
- Akamaru Monogatari [27m, 6/10]
Animiated science fiction short [27 minutes] tracing the history of Japan from about 1600 AD and on into a future in which the Earth is attacked by aliens. An interesting movie, although the proposed defence of the Earth by super-powered Japanese robots is perhaps a bit crackers. But then, we've all seen Transformers by now. Suspend your disbelief and enjoy the ride!
- Millennium [1h 21m, 6/10]
A surprisingly good sci-fi time-travel story, done more-or-less sensibly, given that it is a Hollywood production from 1989, anyway. And it raises an interesting question: if time-travellers were among us, but were being careful not to create a time paradox, how could we detect them?
- Riverworld (2003) [89m, 7/10]
You die. You are resurrected on a new world - along with everyone else who ever lived... Loosely based on the sci-fi novels of Philip Jose Farmer.
- God's Pub [15m, 6/10]
Father Kendrick discovers that the afterlife is a bit more down-market than he imagined...
